($30,000 cash + $30,000 cash
for international travel)

The Melbourne Prize for Music 2007 is for a Victorian professional musician, or group of musicians, whose body of creative work has made an outstanding contribution to Australian music and has enriched our cultural and public life.

Supported by the City of Melbourne ($30,000 Melbourne Sister City International Travel Scholarship), Melbourne Prize Fund ($20,000) and the Sidney Myer Fund ($10,000)

 

Outstanding Musicians Award
$30,000 cash

The Outstanding Musicians Award is to recognise the recent work of a Victorian professional musician or group of musicians, which is an outstanding example of creativity and skill. Performers and composers in all music genres can enter in this award.

Supported by the Sidney Myer Fund ($15,000) and Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund ($15,000)

A three month residency to the faculty of the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Music, will be awarded at the direction of the judges, to the winner of the Outstanding Musician or Development Award.

 

Development Award
$12,000 cash
($7,000 cash + $5,000 grant
for musical instrument)

The Development Award provides opportunities for an emerging individual musician, or group of musicians, who demonstrate outstanding musical talent with the potential to further develop their professional career. Performers and composers in all music genres can enter in this award.

Supported by the Yamaha, Readings and the Melbourne Prize Fund. Including the $5000 rrp Yamaha Music Pty Ltd music instrument or equipment grant.
